Many people, mostly gays(obviously) are always telling me that I hate on Lady Gaga too much. It's not true, well maybe a bit sometimes--for various reason.
1) I hate its fanbase and how much they worship her. How much they think she changes the world of 'fashion' and in general the world. I hate how awesome they think she is because they say she 'talks about topics no one ever talks about.' but overall, I hate the fact that they think she advocates for gay rights when she does nothing at all that does not benefit her first. For example, she did the MAC campaign to raise funds for new AIDS research. Was this campaign non-profit? It probably was, but the publicity obviously gained her points. I also hate the fact that people think she makes art because everytime she "re-invents" herself, she manages to show something even more eccentric and bizarre--not artistic.
2) But most importantly, I hate the fact that she does not use her fame and power to really stand up for her fans. For example, if she said she supported her fanbase by creating a place (her concerts) where everyone can be a freak and be free, not worry about who they are and how broken they are, why did she not stick it up for Arizona and SB1070. While many allege that SB1070 is not a law based on racial profile, i beg to differ. I think it is, and this is where I link the gay community with racial discrimination.
Let's suppose that there was this law where police officers could stop you if they had reasonable suspicion of you being queer. How would they know? None other than your mannerisms. Same goes to your appearance when it comes to looking "illegal" or "legal."
What has she done? As we all know, Lady Gaga is one of the artists who draw massive numbers whenever she makes an appearance, wouldn't it be fair if she canceled her concert for a couple of weeks at least?
Isn't it part of supporting your fans? How about your illegal gay fans who will not only be harrassed by their sexuality but by their appearance as well?
So, there! The biggest reason why I can't stand Lady Gaga is because she doesn't do anything if it doesn't benefit her. I'm also aware that she was a part of a campaign to save a type of bird that is in extinction danger in Brazil--which is funny, because she plans to tour Brazil as well. So, see?

Were you surprised that she did addressed SB1070, being that you wrote a few days before the concert that she doesn't stand up for her Hispanic/gay/documented/undocumented fans?
